Invitation to Participate in the South African Pavilion Schools Art Competition

We are thrilled to present visual art students with a unique opportunity to participate in the prestigious South African Pavilion at the Venice Biennale Arte, 2025 Schools Art Competition. This initiative is part of South Africa’s representation at the Venice Biennale in 2024, one of the most significant and influential art exhibitions worldwide.

The competition is open to all high school students studying visual art, providing them with a platform to showcase their creativity on a national stage. This year’s theme is “Quiet Ground,” which encourages students to contemplate the themes of the SA Pavilion Exhibition. It also encourages them as young people to consider their own connection with heritages of land and tradition in contemporary society through their artistic expression.

Competition Phases and Key Dates:

Open Call for Submissions: Students are invited to submit artworks that explore the theme: Quiet Ground (See the SA Pavilion website, sapavilion.co.za for further details on Quiet Ground)
